JAAP joined administrative professionals in  the Caribbean to observe Administrative Professionals Week from April 21 - 27, 2013 under the theme "Sharpening the Saw...Encouraging Academic Success".

As a precursor to celebrating the Week, administrative professionals from all chapters converged at The Wexford Hotel in Montego Bay on Sunday, April 7, 2013, to witness the All Island Administrative Professional and Boss of the Year Competitions.  Four chapters participated.  After all the sweat and anxiety Hiliary DaCosta who represented the St. Ann Chapter emerged All Island Administrative Professional of the Year and Dr. Fritz Pinnock, representing the Kingston Chapter emerged Boss of the Year.  Hilary is employed to the St. Ann Parish Council while Dr. Pinnock is the executive director of the Caribbean Maritime Institute

Sharon Falconer, who is employed at the Cornwall Regional Hospital and represented the St. James Chapter was adjudged runner-up APOTY while Dr Richard Meggo, acting Area Manager of National Water Commission (NWC) for the parishes of St James and Trelawny, was runner-up BOTY.  He represented the St. James Chapter.

Chapters started Administrative Professionals Week by giving thanks to God followed by a slew of activities during the Week.  Administrative Professionals Day, Wednesday, April 24, saw Chapters honouring their APOTY and BOTY at luncheons held on cruise ships and hotels.
